Not Perfect! You are buying leather closest to its natural form, with minimal post-processing. We have not tried to hide any cosmetic blemishes on the leather. While the hides are almost spot-free, there may be rare instances of such marks visible on very close inspection. These imperfections are a hallmark of true full grain leather, and cannot be stripped away without losing character of the leather. Just like a snowflake, no two belts will be alike.
The photos represent true colors as best as possible on screen. No airbrushing has been done on the photos to hide any imperfections.

How to Select Your Belt Size
📌 WHAT IS A BELT SIZE?
► Belt Size is NOT the same as your pants size
► BELT SIZE is a measurement of your waist, done in a certain way
How to measure your waist?
► We need your waist measurement at the same point as you wear your belt. If you hold the tape too high up on your waist, or too low, the size will change.
► The best idea is to run the measuring tape through belt loops of YOUR BEST-FITTING JEANS / PANTS so that you are measuring the same girth where you would be wearing the belt.
Can I use my pants size?
No, you may not use your pants size.
Measuring Your Belt Size
📌 STEP BY STEP PROCESS
► We request you provide us with a measurement based on your waist size today. Measure at position where you will wear the belt, as explained below (see image above) -
► Run the measuring tape through belt loops of YOUR BEST-FITTING JEANS / PANTS:
1. Hold the tape taut. Not too tight, not too loose. There should be no slack, no folds along the tape, just like you would wear your belt.
2. Stand upright.
3. Don't try to bend over to see the numbers (might change the reading).
4. Use a mirror to see the reading, click a picture, or ask someone to read it for you.
5. Now, once you get your most accurate reading, enter it in as your Belt Size (inches). Example: if you get a reading of 36.5", type this number for your Belt Size.
- Enter your current measured size only. If you anticipate a change in your belt size in the future (for example: gaining weight/losing weight) email us to discuss sizing your belt accordingly.
Recommended - Cross check with your existing belt size
If you have a well fitting belt in active use already, then using a tape measure, measure the distance from most used hole on belt to the belt head, as shown above. Compare this number to your measured waist size. They should be roughly the same.
Crafting for Longevity
MAINTAINING FULL THICKNESS
Most belt makers thin down (skive) the part of the belt that goes under the buckle. This section, where the leather is made thinner gets very weak over the years because it holds the buckle in place, seeing most stresses and it is thinner than the rest of the belt. It is one of the major sources of failure. It is not rocket science to loop a thick piece of leather over the buckle if you use the right techniques. But no one usually does it (a) because it takes longer, and (b) requires different techniques. Usually the skiving of leather is done in the name of comfort, however I did not suffer a single minute when I wore mine without thinning the leather down. Our Everyday Belt will be full thickness.
Chicago Screws, Not Rivets
STRONG, EASY TO SWAP
Compared to rivets, Chicago Screws are much stronger. We will be deploying 4 Solid Brass Chicago Screws to hold the buckle in place on your belt. This will make the construction super strong. The other advantage of screws is that you can change buckles if you like! You get more flexibility for styling your belt, and the care and maintenance of the belt will become a breeze as you can screw and unscrew them with a screwdriver!
Choosing the Right Leather
The leather needs to be full grain, strong, supple and should not stretch out. We were able to source this leather from a skilled, generational family-run Polish tannery.
I really liked how their leather feels and sounds when handled. They seem to have a deep knowledge and understanding of their leather. Their leather has a wonderful woody and earthy aroma, without being pungent - the hallmark of skilfully tanned leather.

We source our hardware from a 4th generation, family owned and operated business based in Newburyport Massachusetts. They care about quality as deeply as we do.
These buckles are masterfully cast with zero pitting. Each buckle is hand polished and laquered to prevent corrosion.
We have sourced all our hardware from them for the last 9 years. They have 100% reliably delivered excellent hardware. They make excellent solid brass hardware.
Questions About the Leather
Will the leather get a patina?
Most certainly! One of the hallmarks of using vegetable tanned, full grain leather is the development of patina. The belt will become darker and develop more of a shine as it is used.
This is of course entirely dependent on how and how much you use and handle the belt. The more it is exposed to sun/UV and oils from your hands, faster the patina develops. The parts of the belt that are exposed to pressure and repeated rubbing will become much darker and a bit compressed (for example right under where the buckle sits on the belt. A lighter colored belt shows a more dramatic patina development.
How do I take care of this leather?
Every three months (or whenever the belt looks like it needs some care) clean the belt with saddle soap followed by an application of leather balm to keep the leather supple. More details here https://godbolegear.com/pages/taking-care-of-leather-goods
What's special about this leather?
This leather has been slowly vegetable tanned with tree bark over a period of 1.5 months. The leather feels smooth to touch and has a matte, semi-glossy finish. It is supple and firm with low stretch. Made by a small, family run Polish tannery using the finest European hides. The tannery is Gold rated by the Leather Working Group (LWG).

Send us an email after you place your order and we'll let you know what can be done. We have a limited supply of leather. After you place an order, we'll try to accommodate any changes, but cannot make any guarantees!

We are fully committed to getting a great fit for you. But we need a careful measurement from your side to make this happen. It will take only 2 minutes of your time, but we ask that you strictly follow the Belt Sizing Guide.
