What to Expect from this Leather Wallet

100% Real Full Grain Leather

Made with the best grade of leather. The entire wallet, inside out, is made with the same 1.2 mm thick leather. We do not compromise the integrity of this wallet with any other materials such as fillers or fabrics. The wallet derives its strength and structure from the durable vegetable tanned full grain leather.

What is the Patina Potential of this Leather?

This leather will form a beautiful patina over time, becoming smoother and glossier with everyday use. Over time, the leather will take on richer tones due to its natural surface, which does not contain heavy pigments or coatings.

This product has been made from ethically sourced select hides from the best grade of leather.

Breaking-In the Wallet

When you first start handling this wallet, it will feel quite tight - this is by design. After a couple of weeks of use, the leather will form (mould) to your use. This is called "breaking-in" the wallet. By nature, vegetable tanned leather starts out as a firm leather and moulds to your use over time.

If you are in quest of a full feature wallet that's large yet slim), then my friend, you're at the right place. When closed, this wallet is around 12 mm at the center.

Hand Burnished Edges

Edges are burnished rather than painted. What this means is that the leather edge is polished at a high speed using various grits of emery paper and this process seals the edge making it more durable than just painting for a cosmetically finished look.

Materials, Craftsmanship & Philosophy

Handcrafting Techniques

Your wallet is handcrafted by one of our master craftsmen using hand tools only. Starting with pattern cutting by hand, hand stitching using the best german thread and finally, finishing the edges by burnishing to a smooth and tough shine - each step is labour intensive and thoughtful - making a product far superior to mass-produced alternatives.

Leather, Thread and other Materials

The wallet is made with 1.2 mm thick full grain leather, which is tanned using natural tannins. We have not used any fillers, fabric linings or other materials that can get compromised over time

This product has been made from ethically sourced select hides from the best grade of leather.

Crafting Philosophy

In contrast to the factory approach where each worker works on one part of a product alone, and passes it along to the next worker in line, your wallet is made from start to finish by a single craftsperson. This instills a sense of pride as well as accountability, and shows through in the quality of the creation.

Total hours spent making this wallet ~ It takes 6 hours to carefully cut the leather, stitch the pieces together, and burnish the edges of the wallet to a smooth and tough shine.

Packaging & Gifting

Ships in 100% recyclable and eco-friendly packaging. We can add a blank or hand written note to your order upon request, for e.g. if you want to gift the product

Built to Last

no fillers, no compromises

This leather wallet has been designed and built to last a lifetime. It has been meticulously handcrafted with 1.2 mm thick full grain leather and traditional saddlery techniques.

What is Saddle Stitching?

2 Hands, 2 needles, waxed thread

We hand stitch our wallets with a single thread and two needles - This technique is called saddle stitching. Hermés is one of the very few luxury brands that stitches their bags using the saddle stitching technique. Basically, a tiny knot is made between each stitch, making it virtually impossible for the stitches to come off or unravel. While sewing machines can stitch much more faster, they cannot compete with the saddle stitch when it comes to durability of seams.

Caring for Your Leather Wallet

A few simple steps and our leather will serve you for decades

  • To make the leather more supple and increase its life, use a leather conditioner like our Leather Balm in small quantities every 2-3 months
  • Use a gentle cleaner like our Saddle Soap to clean leather every 4-6 months, and especially before the monsoon season starts. Salts from sweat and dust from everyday use build up over time. This can lead to fungus (mold) formation in rainy weather.
  • Use Leather Balm to condition leather after cleaning.
  • Never use harsh chemicals or detergents. Do not leave out in high heat environments (over 45C) for prolonged periods of time.
