What is hand-graining?

A centuries-old technique by which the leather craftsperson creates a beautiful pattern onto full grain leather. These patterns get permanently embossed into the leather,  enhancing its beauty with a very distinctive, unique character.

Our version is heavily inspired by the world-renowned french tannery, Alran. We have strived to make a grain pattern with the same technique they use for their Chèvre leathers, specifically the hand grained Madras goat skins.
